ADC2 Blitzkrieg 41 and Sunrise of Victory
Map
I created the map using my ADC2 War in the East map as a basis and altering it to match
the XTR maps in terms of terrain features. I have framed the actual XTR playing
surface map edges using hexsides, which can be turned off during play or reduced in size
using the mapeditor. My WitE map did not include Turkey, so this one doesn't
either. Sorry, I didn't feel it was worth the effort. So there's no Turkey or
Turkish Army unit in the game.
My map was created using a National Geographic map and the coastline matched the XTR map exactly except in the lower right corner around Baku (and where intention changes were made by XTR around Leningrad). An interesting side note - the XTR map matches the Panther Games Trial of Strength in practically all aspects.
Use the terrain data box in the lower right corner while playing if you have questions about what the terrain is.
Fortifications and Fortified Lines are represented by using units instead of being printed on the map. Note that unactivated fortified line units (eg Moscow Line, East Wall) are flipped to show construction symbols. When the activation turn arrives, flip these over to show the actual fortifications.
Units
I've added Control Markers which flip between sides to denote how controls a hex if not
obvious. These are useful in the 1941 game. There are also Out of Supply
Markers which flip included.
I added a Soviet Airborne Attack Marker for Sunrise of Victory.
In Sunrise, the STAVKA artillery units can be manually changed to their new designation by editing the Piece Name.
Replacement Point Markers should be used to track replacement points by editing the marker's Piece Name.
Reinforcements have been placed on the turn track.

Pools
Please review the pools prior to commencing play. Pools have been created to hold
markers, destroyed & withdrawn units, and other pieces.
Stacking
Stack symbols have been implemented for 2, 3 and 4+ units per hex.
Units have been created in a specific order to create natural
stacking without having to use the Sort Command, so that markers are always on top
of a stack. Please examine the Extra Units Pool in each scenario module which will
easily clarify the stacking order of all pieces in the game pieces listed at the
top of the list will be at the top of the stack, while those at the end of the pool list
will be at the bottom of the stack. These extra units are included in
the case of players wishing to create new/additional units without disrupting the natural
stacking order. Of course you can also simply create units from scratch, but these
will be always at the bottom of any stack.
Players can of course also use the Sort Command and/or the Put
Class on Top in Hexes Command (under Game | Mapboard Display Options).
Flip Definitions
All units have flip-definitions defined to match the boardgame. Units in the game
with 2 pieces have those additional pieces integrated into the flip definitions.
Scenarios Included:
Blitzkrieg 41 Base.OPS
Blitzkrieg 41 Setup.OPS
Sunrise of Victory 42 Base.OPS
Sunrise of Victory 42 Campaign Game.OPS
Sunrise of Victory 42 Stalins City.OPS
Sunrise of Victory 42 Deathride.OPS
Note that in all scenarios other than the "base" scenarios, units have been placed on the map in accordance with the setup instructions. In the 1942 Campaign the German player has a free setup for the majority of the units. Players should locate the units in the pools to place where they want them.
1941 Soviet Victory Point Hexes
These are transparent Red Star markers. When the German player captures a victory
point hex the marker should be removed and the VP track adjusted. Note that the
point value of the hex is indicated on the marker.
Fog of War
The Fog of War rules have been setup to closely mimic the boardgame rules. Remember
you must log in as your side - not as the Gamemaster - for Hidden Units to work.
Auto-reveal During Combat and Auto-Reveal During Movement are set to
ON. Both players are using hidden units, search/reveal range 0 which prevents land
movement from revealing the enemy units. When you design attackers and defenders
while in Select Pieces for Action, when you click the OK button, the Combat Summary Window
appears. Click Show Pieces to see what the hidden units are so you can determine the
actual odds.
At the end of each turn before saving the game and sending it to your opponent,
players use the Advanced |
Hide all but top pieces.
Piece Status Dots:
Dont forget to consider using the Piece Status Dot function found in Game | Map
Board Display Options | Piece Status Dots to better mark units which have moved, been
engaged in combat, etc.
Graphics Problems:
If you experience graphics problems like only seeing the units but no map in one or more
of the zoom levels, try changing your system color depth to 16 bit (or 24/32 bit if you
are at 16 bit). You can also try turning down or turning off your video hardware
acceleration (this will also speed up scrolling in ADC2 if it seems choppy).
